Manuel Cortés is appointed as Managing Director, providing in-depth valuations expertise and boots-on-the-ground experience
Madrid – July 28, 2022 – International global consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has established a Valuation and Business Modelling practice in Spain, led by newly appointed Managing Director Manuel Cortés. Mr.Cortés’ hire marks the latest milestone of A&M’s strategic growth plan following on the recent appointment of Madrid-based Restructuring & Turnaround Managing Director, Pablo Blanco.
A&M Spain Valuation and Business Modeling & Analytics practice will advise companies, private equity (PE) funds, hedge funds, investment banks and other entities on business valuation issues along with the financial analysis of assets and business plan reviews.
In his leadership role, Mr. Cortés will focus on financial analysis for transactions and potential litigation issues along with accounting and corporate valuation requirements. His extensive experience across multiple sectors including banking, payment systems, asset management, small caps, automotive, energy, real estate and technology enhances A&M’s ability to solve for clients’ complex problems.

Mr. Cortés has more than 15 years of valuations experience. He specializes in sale and purchase processes and preparing valuation and due diligence reports for companies, private equity funds, hedge funds, investment banks and other financial services companies. Before joining A&M, he served in the Valuation Department of PwC becoming Director of Transactions and Financial Services. During that period, Mr. Cortés participated in the reorganization of the Spanish financial sector, collaborating with various financial institutions and PE funds on different asset divestment and merger processes. Prior to this, he was part of BBVA’s Equity Research team.

Mr. Cortés earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas and an MBA from Instituto de Empresa.
